Descubre la Semana Santa Marinera de Valencia

Valencia’s Maritime Holy Week is a unique festival that combines tradition, devotion and the maritime charm of the city. Celebrated in the neighborhoods of Cabañal, Canyamelar and Grao, this festivity has been recognized as a Festival of National Tourist Interest.

Main Processions and Events:

   · Palm Sunday: the procession of the Palms commemorates the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. It begins at 9:45 a.m. and lasts approximately two and a half hours. One of the most moving moments is the blessing of the Palms in the Plaza de Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles.

   · Holy Thursday: the procession of the Torches is one of the most outstanding events, where the brotherhoods walk through the streets illuminated only by the light of the torches, creating a solemn and emotional atmosphere.

   · Good Friday: the procession of the Holy Burial is the central event of the Marine Easter. All the brotherhoods take part in this procession, which lasts several hours and represents the passion and death of Christ.

   · Easter Sunday: from 1 p.m. onwards, the Resurrection parade begins, a very colourful procession, with an incessant shower of flower petals, which are thrown from the balconies of the houses.

Recommendations for Visitors:

- Gastronomy: make the most of the occasion to sample the typical dishes of the area in the local restaurants. The proximity to the sea guarantees the freshness of the products.

- Climate: during Easter Week, Valencia usually enjoys pleasant temperatures, with maximum temperatures that can reach 24ºC, ideal for strolling and enjoying outdoor activities.
